What is a grant?
A grant is need-based financial aid that does not have to be repaid. Grants are available through the federal government, state agencies, the university or an outside organization. Grants are typically based on financial need but there may be other qualifying criteria, such as filing deadline. Any grant funding listed on a student’s financial aid offer is automatically posted in Accepted status by SFS—students do not need to manually accept grant funding through TUportal.
Temple University requires the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for need-based grant funding. The FAFSA must be submitted by the Feb. 1 priority deadline to be considered.
