Arts Education Assistant Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities:

  • Support Spiral Q teaching artists in schools and community centers to help engage participants in arts-learning and social justice projects
  • Direct students (children through adults) in one-on-one and small group settings
  • Assist teaching artists with materials and physical components of classroom activities: delivering materials, setting up tables, cleaning up, etc.
  • Provide support to the Spiral Q Education team with research, evaluation, communication and administrative support as requested.
  • Support Spiral Q and the Production Manager with ongoing duties and operations in our studio and museum

List Full Duties & Responsibilities:
SEPTA’s Planning & Strategic Initiatives Division is dedicated to the agency’s progress towards a more equitable, livable, and connected Greater Philadelphia region. The Office of Innovation (OOI) manages SEPTA’s Sustainability Plan, energy data management, and planning for zero or low emission fleets and facilities. OOI also provides comprehensive ridership and data analysis, including the development of novel datasets and visualizations. Interns will support key projects by providing research support, collecting and analyzing data, mapping and assembling graphics and documents. Based on your experience and goals, you will develop skills in project management, data analysis, mapping, graphic design, public communication, and planning to support regional infrastructure and livable programs. You will have the opportunity to attend internal and external meetings and gain first-hand experience in intergovernmental and public collaboration. Some potential projects include:

  • Creating visualizations of transit data using Tableau and/or Power BI.
  • Modernizing and digitizing of historic data sets.
  • Creating new data sets to gain better insights on travel trends in the region.
  • Assist in data collection efforts for SEPTA’s Bus Revolution, Trolley Modernization, and Re-Imagining Regional Rail projects.
  • Researching industry best practices for tracking ridership recovery and trends.

Academic Experience Requirements
The Office of Innovation Intern must have completed at least two years of an undergraduate program in an applicable major. Job Description: 

The Free Library of Philadelphia and NWON Opportunities seek a part-time Work-Study student to work at the Nicetown-Tioga Branch of the Free Library. A newly installed workforce center in the library has just opened and would like assistance with patrons who are looking for help with job preparedness. 

In order to be eligible, we would want someone who can commit to working each week on Monday and Thursday sometime during the hours of 11:00am and 4pm.

Business majors are preferred, but all are welcome to apply. This is the perfect opportunity to gain hands on valuable professional experience with the staff of the Free Library and NWON Opportunities.

If you have additional availability in your schedule, outside of the requested hours in the workforce center, this branch is also looking for assistance with some of their other programs.  After school programs, computer aid and other tasks that the Branch Manager may need accomplished.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily operations of the workforce center

TU Tutors will support the literacy and math growth and general academic enrichment of K-8 students who attend one of our partner schools in the North or West Philadelphia area. About this Role
Graduate Assistants support PFSS programming and operations in our school-based programs throughout Philadelphia. They will work under the supervision of a Program Director and have specific projects and responsibilities assigned to them in which they will have to plan and implement during the program year. Job Description: 
PCDC was established in 1966 as a nonprofit, grassroots, community-based organization.  Its mission is to preserve, protect, and promote Chinatown as a viable ethnic, residential, and business community.  Programs focus on providing affordable housing and related services to all members of the community, neighborhood planning and advocacy, economic and industrial redevelopment, and general family support services. 

PCDC is looking for a Program Associate to help support the programming we offer. This position will provide assistance to the core programs and administrative functions of the agency. This position provides a student with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, with potential opportunities for special projects. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

•    Logistics work for our events (i.e. programs, set-up, breakdown, budgeting, volunteer coordinating, etc.)
•    Attend required trainings as needed
•    Data entry
•    Assist with day-to-day operation
•    Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
•    Chinese/English Bilingual is strongly preferred

Job Description: 
Position Summary

The many branches of the Free Library of Philadelphia system are seeking energetic, self-directed, creative and responsible work study student employees. The library system provides printed and electronic materials; information and reference services and a large variety of programs for adults, seniors, teens and children, as well as their parents and caregivers. 

Some of the Free Library Programs continue to be remote; some are now in person while others are being conducted both in person and online. Program Assistants will work with Branch Managers, Librarians, after school program administrators and specialty staff to assist in providing some of the services that are available to our patrons.  Student employees will be placed in one of 54 library branches or a specialty department of the Parkway Central Library. The work of the student employees helps to sustain the efforts of the library staff by providing support to the Free Library mission to enhance literacy, guide learning and inspire curiosity.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the branch manager, library supervisors, librarians and administrators by working in areas of the library where patrons of all ages seek instruction, homework help, basic computer skills and workforce development or other tasks to be determined by the branch manager.
  • Assist librarians and program managers with current in person and virtual adult and youth education and language programs.
  • Some students may participate in the LEAP After School Program by tutoring and assisting with homework and other educational tools.
  • A Program Assistant who has helpful ideas about creating and facilitating online, virtual computer classes and/or workshops and podcast editing skills may be the successful candidate.

Qualifications:

  • Possess strong customer service, leadership and communication skills, with an interest in forwarding the various aspects of literacy and librarianship.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and GSuite, all Social Media platforms and some knowledge of graphic design have an interest in serving and interacting with the public, particularly children and teens
  • Student must be federal work study eligible
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Familiarity with Zoom video conferencing
  • Must be willing to use your own computer to complete the requirements of this position.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas

  •  Some branches are looking for students with a creative interest or talent that you would like to share with others, particularly children and teens (a handful of examples: crochet/physics/fitness/anime/gaming/writing/reading/drama/language).
  • Experience and interest in teaching others (children/teen/adults) how to do crafts; experience or interest in tutoring
  • Some locations may need students who speak Spanish at the conversational level
  • Some locations may need students who speak Chinese or Vietnamese at the conversational level
  • Hours are flexible.

Students who accept positions will be required to complete the PA State Child Abuse Clearances to be permitted to work with minors. There is no cost related to the completion of these clearances.
